Plant out cineraria seedlings for brilliant, mid to late winter colour.
Buy deciduous plants now so that you can clearly see the autumn tones you can  expect in future seasons.
Plant citrus trees. New season citrus plants will be arriving in nurseries this month.
Fertilise lawns and top dress in areas where the lawn has become uneven.
Collect and dry nuts as soon as they fall.
Sow seeds of native annuals such as strawflowers and paper daisies in amongst ornamental grasses for added colour.
Remove any mummified fruit remaining on fruit trees & put them in the bin (not the compost).
Buy sasanqua camellias to train as espaliers.
Prepare rose beds.
Plant spring flowering annual seedlings.
Chop up autumn leaves with the mower and add to the compost heap.
Plant out polyanthus, primulas and lobelia seedlings.
Create your own bluebell wood by scattering Scilla bulbs under deciduous trees and plant them where they fall.
Plant all spring flowering bulbs with the exception of tulips.
Cut back perennials such as Michaelmas Daisy that have finished flowering.
Pinch out established pelargonium cuttings to encourage bushy growth.
Deadhead salvias and dahlias to extend the flowering period.
